Box assignments will now be randomly drawn prior to the meet. In an effort to be more fair, we will draw box assignments for every race the week of the meet. These will be posted here (link) once they are drawn. At-large individuals will be able to choose between 2-3 boxes labeled "individuals".
Parking will be limited for spectators. More information to come in the months leading up to the event.
Busses must exit the park and park at local schools.
There will be multiple virtual coaches meetings held on Tuesday, October 14th starting at 7:00pm (EST). Links to be emailed.
Team awards will be given to the top 5 teams in the "Showcase" division and the top 3 teams in all other divisions. The top 25 individual finishers will receive medals as well in all races. Awards ceremonies will take place one hour after the start time of the race. The Girls "Showcase" team trophy is named the "Stan Morgan Memorial Cup", The Boys "Showcase" team trophy is named the "Jim Holdren Trophy", and the JV team winners will each receive the "Jim Triemplar JV Cup".
Please read over this information carefully prior to emailing questions
SEEDING NOTE #1: The list of teams qualifying for each division will be posted no later than Monday prior to the meet. These race assignments are seeded by meet management. Conflicts will not allow teams to move up to the "Showcase" race. Legitimate conflicts will be considered for moving teams to the "Elite" race.
SEEDING NOTE #2: Meet management will try and release a preliminary list of morning vs afternoon teams on Sunday October 5th. Here we will denote the teams who are on the bubble for
The course is 95% grass with a sand soil underneath. The course drains water phenomenally. Overall the course is flat and very fast!
Packets with athlete's bibs will be available for pick up on Friday from 2:30-6:30pm and 7:30am-4:30pm on Saturday. If you're bringing a check, you will hand it in there.
It is imperative that you tell all your athletes to not run on any road at Pole Green Park. It is not safe and if athletes do so they risk being disqualified. There are plenty of trails to run on including the entire lower course. This course can be accessed by running behind the softball fields on the trees’ side.
All busses will be parking off-site. That means not at the elementary school. We recommend parking at one of the shopping centers off of US Route 360 or at one of the two schools on Lee Davis Road. Some of the coordinated locations ready to receive busses are Battlefield Park Elementary and Laurel Meadow Elementary School who are both 2-3 miles away.
Coaches who are driving busses should email TheVAShowcase@gmail.com for further instructions.
All athletes should be riding on the bus to this event. If athletes are getting dropped off though they will be dropped off at Pole Green Elementary School and walk to the course from there. Parents will not be allowed to drop off athletes at the front.
There is no place for coaches to drop off tents on Saturday. If you would like to drop off your tent on Friday you can do so at your own risk. Teams and coaches should keep all tents on their bus and carry them from the bus drop off to the team camp area. We will not let coaches drive all the way up on Saturday. Just so we are clear, we will not let coaches drive all the way up on Saturday to drop off tents.
Results will be posted on MileSplit as they are finalized but live results can be viewed on BlueRidgeTiming.com . Please note that results are unofficial until they are posted as official.
All athletes should check-in immediately following the previous race starting. To check-in, athletes will need to walk through the check-in tent adjacent to the higher numbered starting boxes (finish line area). Only competing athletes should be entering here, no coaches allowed in the check-in area as we do not want any erroneous bib reads prior to the start.
Please do not bring your animals to this event.
